NOTES
The chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
The bag is worked from the bottom up.
PATTERN
BEGIN WITH WARM BROWN
Ch 33.
Round 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in the next 28 chs. 5 dc in the last ch. Turn your work so you're working along the opposite side of beginning ch. Dc in the next 29 chs. 4 dc in the last ch. Join with a slst to first dc. (68 total dcs)
Round 2: Ch 1. Fpdc around every dc st around. Join with a slst to first fpdc.
Rounds 3-6: Repeat round 2 four more times.
CHANGE TO ECRU
Round 7: Ch 1. Sc in every stitch around. Join with a slst to first sc.
Round 8: Ch 1. Sc in the first stitch. Skip a stitch. Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. *Sc in the next st. Skip a stitch. Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to first sc.
Round 9: Ch 2. Shell in the first stitch. Skip a stitch. Sc in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. *Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Sc in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to first dc.
Round 10: Slst into the next stitch. Ch 1 and sc in same stitch. Skip a stitch. Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. *Sc in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to first sc.
Round 11: Ch 2. Shell in the first stitch. Skip a stitch. Sc in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. *Shell in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Sc in the next stitch. Skip a stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slst to first dc.
Rounds 12-17: Repeat rounds 10 and 11 three more times
Round 18: Ch 1. Sc in every stitch around. Join with a slst to first sc.
CHANGE TO WARM BROWN
Round 19: Ch 2. Dc in every stitch around. Join with a slst to first dc.
Round 20: Ch 1. Fpdc around every dc stitch around. Join with a slst to first fpdc.
Rounds 21-24: Repeat round 20
Round 25: Ch 1. Sc in every stitch around. Join with a slst to first sc.
PLACE STITCH MARKERS
- Lay bag flat.
- Count 8 stitches in from from either side of bag and place stitch markers
- Count 3 stitches in from either marker and place another marker.
- Flip bag over
- Repeat steps 2 and 3
Round 26: Ch 1. Sc in every stitch around. (When you get to the stitch markers you will sc into the stitch AND around the ring of the purse handle. You will have a total of 4 sc around each ring.) Join with a slst to first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
